The sun rises every single day. This is a fundamental truth.

We are infinitesimal mortal beings in an infinite universe.

We inhabit our minds and occupy internal realms.

The focus is self.

The challenge is to bring one’s awareness outside oneself, to open ourselves to a sense of place and present. The challenge is to recognize our belonging in the universe and consider that a gathering of individuals has the potential to change the world.

The ICEHOUSE site is a microcosm, both interior and exterior. The intent of this installation is to offer a collective experience of connectedness to each other and to the natural world.

Individuals are invited to be on site in time together. Outside, elements are animated by the wind. Ribbons descend in the light from a towering butternut tree to a glass sphere on the ground, suspended panes of glass mirror a window reflecting the surrounds. Inside, branches from above mimic lightning at a circular table of mounded moss, inviting visitors to sit and look closer with a magnifying lens.
