Aurora
AURORA
Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Main Gallery, Providence, Rhode Island
Dimensions:
48′ H x 7’‘9” L x 31’ 6” W
Materials:
30,000 Round Elastic Threads
Aurora is envisioned as a precise geometric structure of thousands of fine elastic threads, which intersect as they descend in diagonal planes from the skylight above to the floor below. The structure will make tangible the light from the passing day and echo the sky as the sun ellipses overhead, responsive to the bright canopy above. Aurora will serve as an instrument for recording the changing light, giving physical evidence to its brilliance and focusing attention upon the fluidity and impermanence of perception.
Aurora is a proposal for Main Gallery space of the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.
